Boston Marathon
Matt and his running partner Lucas Carr first took on the Boston Marathon in 2012. For years they raised money and awareness for some great organizations. However, they always envisioned one day running for a charity of their own. That dream came true in 2021, when, alongside Marykate Galvin, the Matt Brown Foundation had two bibs in the fall Boston Marathon. It was Marykate’s first marathon ever!
That unbelievable feeling continued just six months later when the Boston Marathon returned to its normal April date and Matt and Luke were joined by Jessica Rooney. Matt and Luke met Jess while running the New York City Marathon for the Leary Firefighter Fund and the three of them remained close since.
With the help of generous individuals, prerace fundraisers, and team sponsors, the two marathon teams have raised over $70,000 in the last two editions of the marathon. Everyone knows what the Boston Marathon means to people in the New England area, but it has also been a staple in Matt’s life since his injury in 2010. Being able to now use it to raise money for individuals in similar situations to him means so much.
We plan on the 2023 Boston Marathon being just as special. Stay tuned for our announcement on who will be running alongside Matt and Luke this year and what we have planned to support our marathon team this coming spring.
