Marie Conway's Fundraiser
Here are some words from our Founder, Matt Brown:
"Over the last month, I have had the pleasure of getting to know Marie Conway. In 1975, Marie broke her neck in a judo accident, resulting in paralysis from the chest down. At a time where paralysis was so taboo, Marie found the strength and courage to push through and gain some independence of her own.
In 2001, she purchased an accessible Ford van and has driven it for the last 20 years. She described to me how it has been her lifeline to connecting to the world, giving her the freedom to be out on her own and enjoy life on a daily basis. Unfortunately, this past August, that van broke down for the final time. She told me that it has been the first time since she was injured many years ago, that she has lost her independence.
She recently reached out to the foundation, looking for some help. In true Marie fashion, she launched a GoFundMe on her own, but has not reached her goal. With some more money set aside, she is not far off. The Matt Brown Foundation is ready to commit and match anything up to $20,000 that goes into her GoFundMe over the next two weeks. So please, join us in helping Marie get across the finish line. And if you can’t, sharing this message with others is just as important."
